Amarillo
Amarillo (the Spanish word for yellow) is the largest city in the Panhandle region of Texas and spans four counties. The area is expansive and began as a railroad stop with large ranches. Route 66 runs through Amarillo. Today, it has become a bustling city with a friendly, Midwestern vibe mixed with Southern hospitality. There are many areas, like the downtown business district with charming brick streets and historic Sixth Street, where you can park and walk to boutiques, restaurants, bars, and galleries. Just outside of Amarillo, is PanTex, the only nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility in the country.
