South Sutton
South Sutton, New Hampshire is an unincorporated community found within the town of Sutton, which lies within Merrimack County. As of the 2010 census, the population of Sutton proper was 1,837 residents. Originally established a s a town in 1749, Sutton’s settlement was delayed until 1767 by the French and Indian War. When the town was re-established in 1784, it took its name from new settlers who originated from Sutton, Massachusetts. The area has a long history and has many preserved historic buildings. In Merrimack County, there are 87 businesses, homes and structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
