Homestead
A city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, Homestead is located near Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park. The city is mainly a suburb of Miami known for being an agricultural area. After Miami, it is the second oldest city in the area, and, as its name suggests, it was used as a construction camp of a rail line, used for homesteading purposes. The population of the city is a little over 60,000, and in 1992 was the site of major devastation when Hurricane Andrew hit. Nowadays, the city is experiencing a housing and development boom, which has brought prosperity to the area.
