Waimea
Waimea is a small community on Hawaii's Big Island surrounded by working ranches and farms. Located a short distance from the northern volcanic Kohala Coast, Waimea features lush, rolling, green pastures and plenty of wide-open spaces. Also called Kamuela, Waimea's culture revolves around the paniolo, or Hawaiian cowboy. At 2,500 feet above sea level, Waimea experiences cool, moist temperatures, especially at night - visitors are encouraged to bring a jacket or sweatshirt with them.
