Griffin
Griffin, Georgia is a suburb of the largest city in Georgia, Atlanta. This bedroom community of Atlanta is also known as “The Iris City” for the preponderance of this beautiful flower that grows in Griffin. The city has a population of almost 25,000 and is an upper-middle-class community with an excellent school system and older, well-kept homes on tree-lined streets.
Griffin was founded in 1840. The Griffin Commercial Historical District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its vast array of original buildings and period charm. Griffin is home to a few institutes of higher learning as well, such as Griffin Technical College, the University of Georgia Griffin Branch Campus, and a branch of the Southern Crescent Technical College.
