Hampton

Hampton, Virginia is one of the seven large cities that make up the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. It has a population of almost 140,000 and is located on the southeastern end of the Virginia peninsula. It is best known as home to Langley Air Force Base and as such, the city of Hampton is home to a large number of military personnel and families. Langley AFB is also one of the largest civilian employers in Hampton as well. Hampton is a city that is rich in historical significance and because of this, tourism is the second largest source of revenue in the city. Hampton is also home to two institutes of higher learning. Thomas Nelson Community College is a public institution with branch campuses all around the Hampton Roads area, while Hampton College is a private school located on the outskirts of Hampton.
