Located on the west side of Oregon, Gardiner is a small, unincorporated community with a rich history and stunning scenic vistas. The community sits on the shores of the Umpqua River and is close to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Outdoor activities are the most popular means of recreation for Gardiner's 250 residents. The Gardiner Historic District is listed as a US National Register of Historic Places and spans most of the community center. During the 1800's, many steamboats were built in Gardiner.
