Beaumont, Texas is the fourth largest city in Texas, and one of the most industrial with its convenient location near the Gulf of Mexico. Located east of Houston, Beaumont is home to more than 118,000 residents and a plethora of interesting things to see and do. Beaumont is rich with history dating back to the 1820's when a settlement west of the Neches River was first established. Beaumont did not officially become a town until 1838, the same year it was officially incorporated. Oil is the primary export to the Beaumont area, which has been a draw to the area for commerce, trade, and industrialization. Today, the oil fields are still operational and provide many jobs to the thriving area. While the rich history of the area is still evident in the architecture and culture, Beaumont is also home to many modern-day amenities that are sure to meet the needs of visitors or residents to the Beaumont area.
