Stanton
Stanton is an unincorporated community located in Franklin County, east central Missouri. It was once an important town along U.S. Route 66, given its proximity to the Meramec Caverns (which were heavily advertised along the highway). Several businesses and attractions that are remnants of that era can still be found here, including the Wedding Bells reception hall, two consignment shops, two museums, the Reptile Ranch, a combined gas station and fireworks shop, and a campground. The surrounding area is known in particular for its wineries, which form part of the Missouri Rhineland wine region.
