Pasadena
The “Strawberry Capitol of the South,” Pasadena, Texas, was made famous for the size and sweetness of its strawberries – the strawberry business being the first big industry in the area. Each year, the Pasadena Strawberry Festival celebrates this heritage, attracting more than 58,000 visitors. Part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area, Pasadena is the 17th-most populous city in Texas. The city has a varied history as home to the Karankawa and Atakapan tribes, European settlement by the Spanish, involvement in the Texas Revolution with Mexico, and a rich ranching tradition.
