Hesperia
Hesperia is a unique city located in the mojave Desert, about 15 miles north of San Bernardino, CA. Locals call it the “High Desert,” and they make up a population of about 90,000. Most of the vegetation and wildlife that exists in this area is of the desert, with junipers, Joshua trees, and sagebrush being the primary flora in the area. Occasional earthquakes plague the area, due to the San Andreas Fault being located nearby. The city spans about 73.2 square miles and is about 3,191 feet above sea level. Hesperia was named in 1891 after the Greek god of the west, “Hesperus.” Today, it is known for its beautiful man-made lake and golf courses.
