Scipio is a small town located in Millard County in the state of Utah. It has a population of 290 residents spanning 5.5 square miles of land. The town is situated inside of the Round Valley. The closest town is Holden, 15 miles away. The town has 112 households and 91 families in total living there, which gives it a population density of 163 residents per square mile. The average median income for residents was $30,000. This area was originally settled in 1859 and the name changed multiple times until it was finalized as Scipio in honor of the lawyer who assisted the pioneers in obtaining a title to the land: Scipio Africanus Kenner. The LDS branch was organized in the region by George A. Smith in 1861. There are many pioneer style homes still in the area.
