South El Monte

The Whittier Narrows neighborhood is in the southern portion of South El Monte, California and actually extends a bit farther than the limits of this area. The neighborhood is named for the Whittier Narrows Nature Center and Recreational Area which are partially included within the neighborhood but continues south. Although it rarely happens, the Whittier Narrows neighborhood is sometimes referred to as the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area neighborhood. The neighborhood has a population of around 9,500 people and students living in the area will usually attend either El Monte Union High or Garvey Elementary, both of which are public schools in the local school district. It's a family friendly area that offers a warm and friendly area to stay while visiting California.
