New Britain is a city located in the state of Connecticut and it sits in Hartford County. The city is nicknamed “hardware city” due to its history as the headquarters for the company Stanley Black & Decker and its history as a manufacturing center. There is also a large Polish population in the city which has, at times, dubbed it “New Britski”. In fact, there is a neighborhood called “Little Poland” which has been home to Polish businesses since 1890. When you head to this area you will notice a distinct accent that has to do with the Polish influence on English.
