Glendale
Back in the 1800s, Glendale, Arizona was little more than a desert wasteland, starving for water and development. Just 9 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix, Glendale used to be a distant dream of founder William John Murphy. The native New Yorker's efforts to build a canal to bring water and wealth to the city caused him to be deeply in debt, but he succeeded in bringing life and industry to the area. Today, Glendale bills itself as “Arizona's Antique Capital,” and is home to many small neighborhoods Like Catlin Court, who seeks to preserve the historical architecture and beauty of downtown Glendale.
