Willoughby
Willoughby is a charming small city in northeast Ohio, just outside of Cleveland; its northernmost neighborhoods partially border Lake Eerie and look across to Canada. Willoughby was originally settled by American Indians, later by French trappers, and then gradually settled by new world immigrants. Once called Chagrin, after a river running through it, Willoughby was eventually named after the noted Dr. Willoughby, one of the founders of the Willoughby University of Lake Eerie Medical College, in the 1800s. Willoughby has a rich colonial history and today its downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
