Kingman
The county seat of Mohave County, Kingman, Arizona is located less than 90-miles south of Las Vegas, Nevada in the heart of Southern Arizona. Known as “the heart of Route 66”, Kingman is rich with history dating back to the 1850's when the U.S. War Department built a road through the area. The city of Kingman was established in 1882 and remained a small railroad town until well after the start of the 20th Century. Rich with history in gold mining, railroading, and eventually manufacturing, Kingman has come a long way from the days of the wagon train.Today, Kingman and surrounding areas are home to more than 40,000 residents. Home to a branch of Northern Arizona University, a plethora of attractions, shopping, entertainment, and more; Kingman is a haven for adventurers of all ages. The area around Kingman is also still rich with history. Two old-town mining sites, Chloride and Oatman stand as a testament to the history of the area and are modern day “ghost towns”. Kingman is one of the most iconic cities located along historic Route 66 and boasts a wide variety of historical and iconic sites and flavors.
