Longview
Located in south-western Washington, Longview is the main city of the Longview, Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area. Located at the intersection of the Cowlitz and Columbia rivers, it is the largest city in Cowlitz County. Longview is also the headquarters of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. The city is named after Robert A. Long, who played a major role in the development of the county by the means of the Long-Bell Lumber Company. The growth of the company attracted workers to the city. Originally the site of Mount Coffin, Longview was the ancestral burial site for the natives. The first people who settled in the area were European Americans Harry and Rebecca Jane Huntington. Longview is linked to Oregon through the Lewis and Clark Bridge on the Columbia River.
