Kenner
Located just a stone's throw from Metairie and New Orleans, Kenner, Lousiana is home to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. As a suburb of populous New Orleans, Kenner holds its own with nearly 70,000 residents. Tourism is a big source of income for the area, as Kenner features a variety of museums, parks, and is home to historic Rivertown along the Mississippi River.Originally inhabited by the Indian tribe Tchoupitoulas, Kenner was founded in 1855 by a man named Minor Kenner. Largely plantation and swampland, the area around Kenner was not truly developed until the 1950's when Interstate 10 was constructed, and massive improvements were made to the northern portions of the area by way of draining and filling the swampland. By the late 1970's, Kenner was considered one of the largest cities in the state of Louisiana.
