Lihue
Lihue is the second largest town on Kaua’I Island. It is situated in the ancient Puna district and was the birthplace of the sugar industry during the 1800s. It quickly became the central city for sugar mills and also the first irrigation system to support the mill. Germans emigrated to the town around 1881 and soon the Lutheran Church was founded in the area with German services offered.
