Named as one of the top 5 defense industry development areas in the United States, the city is home to at least six colleges, including Fayetteville State University, which offers bachelor’s degrees in 43 areas, master’s degrees in 23 areas, and a doctorate in educational leadership. The city is also home to Methodist University, offering more than 80 majors and concentrations. The Fayetteville Technical Community College located here is the largest community college in the state. Grace College of Divinity and Carolina Bible College are both located in this vibrant city. Shaw University has a large satellite campus in this city. By far, the largest employer in the city is Fort Bragg. The base is home to United States Army airborne forces, Army Special Forces, Army Forces Command units, and Army Reserve Command units. More than 4,315 households live on the base and work there too.
