Huntington Beach
Just a couple of miles from the beach, The International Surfing Museum, and the celebrated Huntington Beach Pier, the Yorktown section of this beach city underwent some redeveloping about 10 years ago. It's a residential and commercial district that provides housing for middle class individuals as well as affordable housing for those who need a little help. While Yorktown isn't exactly on the beach, it's as close as you're going to get without having sand and surf in your front yard.
Yorktown is the smallest community in the city of Huntington Beach. It measures no more than 30 acres and includes two housing developments. One is a collection of single family residential homes called The Huntington Classics. These 73 homes were constructed in the 1990's. Bowen Court Senior Apartments offers housing to low income seniors who are 55 years or older.
