Coeur d'Alene
Coeur d’Alene is located in Idaho and is actually the county seat of Kootenai County. This city is also the largest city within the county and it has the second biggest metropolitan area of the cities in the state.
Coeur d’Alene had a population of 44,137 as of the 2010 Census but it is in a Combined Statistical Area with Spokane, Washington and this area’s population reaches 679,989 residents. The area of Coeur d’Alene is only 16.08 square miles.
This city has grown in size and popularity in recent years and is now considered a resort town as well as a prime vacation spot for tourists. There are several well-known and popular resorts within the city as well as nearby with the most prominent one being the Coeur d’Alene Resort. In fact, Coeur d’Alene is also conveniently close to two large ski resorts: Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort located in Sandpoint and Silver Mountain Resort located in Kellogg.
If you translate the name Coeur d’Alene into English it means “heart of an awl” and this name comes from a Native American tribe that used to live in the area. The city of Coeur d’Alene has multiple schools including Lakes Magnet Middle School and Lake City High School.
