Cardwell
In Jefferson County, Montana is the census-designated place of Cardwell, with a population of approximately 40 people as of the 2000 census. Cardwell as a total area of less than two and a half square miles and is part of the Helena Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is located in the lower, western corridor of the state close to the Jefferson River. Historically, it thrived both as a station on the Northern Pacific Railroad and when the Mayflower Mine was in operation.
