From its location 11 miles from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, almost 30,000 residents call Florence, Kentucky, home. Some of these residents attend Gateway Community and Technical College, which offers two-year and college preparatory classes with an open enrollment. About 220 students attend the Lincoln College of Technology. Other students attend Beckfield College preparing for careers as health care workers, executives, computer technologists, paralegals, and criminal justice workers. Still other students attend The Hair Design School. Most of the residents commute the 11 miles or so north to work in Cincinnati. Nevertheless, this Cincinnati suburb is home to Aristech Acrylics LLC, which makes more continuous cast acrylic sheets than anyone else in the world. Many of these sheets are used to line hot tubs around the world.
