Lombard
Lombard is a small village located in the state of Illinois. It is a suburb of Chicago with a population of just over forty three thousand people. This area was originally settled by the Potawatomi tribes. European settlers did not arrive until the 1830's at which time Ralph Babcock and Morgan Babcock settled in the area now known as Babcock's Grove. This grove of trees still exists today. The land was well regarded as fertile and because of this provided timber for the nearby farmers. The area grew with the Chicago Union Railroad construction in 1848 after which the village was officially incorporated in 1869. It was named after a banker and real estate developer from Chicago: Josiah Lombard. Today this city offers many great restaurants and hotels for visitors.
