Sandown
Sandown, New Hampshire, is a town of about 6,000, located in Rockingham County. A lot of the town’s history is centered on the Old Meeting House. Reverend Joseph Cotton, the first minister of Sandown, built the Sandown Meeting House in 1774. The building featured an 11-foot-tall pulpit and marble columns to support the gallery. The meeting house is still an example of early New England church architecture. In fact, this meeting house is considered to be the finest example in New England, due to the outstanding craftsmanship and architectural detail. The city was incorporated in 1756 by Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth. Sandown is conveniently located by Routes 125, 28, and 111, offering country living with access to shopping and urban areas.
