Ventura
Ventura is officially called the City of San Buenaventura, named after the mission that settled here in 1782. Today, this city is one of America's most livable communities and nicknamed the “City of Good Fortune.” When you stroll the downtown streets and appreciate the historic architecture, you'll find modern shops, upscale restaurants, and charming historic buildings.
Known for surfing though, Ventura is right between Malibu and Santa Barbara on the Pacific Ocean. There's a gorgeous pier on the harbor, so you can look out over the sapphire waters and appreciate the Anacapa and Santa Cruz islands. For more outdoor recreation, visit the two sparkling rivers and majestic mountains surrounding the area.
Ventura also harnesses California's entrepreneurial spirit with the Ventura Ventures Technology Center, a business incubator that focuses on modern technologies.
