Hanover, Pennsylvania is located in York County, almost 20 miles from the city of York. It is considered an outer suburb of Baltimore, Maryland and was settled by German immigrants from the city of Hannover, Germany, with many residents working in York or Baltimore. The German influence can be seen and felt throughout this town of almost 20,000 in the building design and the many shops and restaurants found within.
Hanover is home to branch campuses of York College as well as Pennsylvania State University. It also hosts the Empire Beauty College and the Practical Nursing Program campuses as well. The school system is one of the best in York County and the town is considered a desirable place to raise a family.
