Frankfort
The capital city of the state of Kentucky, Frankfort has a lot of historical roots and old world charm. Many of the landmarks in this city are over 150 years old. It is one of the smallest state capitals in the country, as it is home to about 25,000 people.
Historic Downtown Frankfort has many places to shop and eat, and the buildings here as well as the street lamps are made in designs that were popular in the latter part of the 19th Century. Frankfort is home to one of most popular museums in the state. It is also home to several popular distilleries of world-famous Kentucky Bourbon, most notably the Buffalo Trace Distillery.
There is a public transportation system in this town, something will seldom find in few cities this size. A free trolley service that runs in the downtown area is perfect for getting around while you see the city. Frankfurt is the home of the Kentucky State University. There are many beautiful parks in the area. River tours are popular here, and there is something to do here for all age groups.
