El Dorado Springs
El Dorado Springs is the biggest city inside of Cedar County in the state of Mississippi. It has a population of 3,500 people. Many locals refer to the city as “El Do”. This city was founded in 1881 by two brothers who found a natural spring near the location and attempted to capitalize on that. They claimed the water from the spring had medicinal value, which is still a large reason why so many people visit the area today. The spring water has a naturally heavy mineral content to it, which is why the two founding brothers thought it wise to name the city after the City of Gold. Today the city is mostly an urban one with the average age being 40 and the average income being $23,000.
