Virginia Beach

The Northwest neighborhood of Virginia Beach, Virginia is a solidly middle class area of the city with a strong suburban feel. This district features primarily medium-sized single-story homes on ample lots, with manicured landscaping and lots of winding roads and cul-de-sacs. Most of these houses were constructed in the later decades of the 20th century, so the area has a newly developed aura. This corner of the city shares Virginia Beach's historic colonial legacy, its pleasant location on the mid-Atlantic seaboard, its U.S. Naval military significance, and its attraction as a major tourist destination. It provides a great base for visiting the city's famous beaches, exploring the nearby Lake Lawson and Lake Smith Natural Area, visiting Bayville Farms Park, or fishing in Pleasure House Creek. The Northwest Virginia Beach neighborhood above all highlights tidewater existence in the Tidewater section of the Atlantic seaboard, where tobacco farmers took advantage of the natural ebbing and flowing of the coastal waters.
