Bridgeport
The largest city in the state of Connecticut, Bridgeport is located on the shores of the Pequonnock River and the Long Island Sound. It has a population of about 144,000 and there is a rich history associated with this region. It was first settled in the mid-17th century, when it became a center of trade. Today, it is town that is reinvesting in its historic downtown area and several of its neighborhoods.Residents here experience hot tropical weather in the summer and cold winters with a mix of rain and snow. There are two very large parks that are popular area residents, Beardsley in the north and Seaside in the south. They are close to many of the area’s best restaurants. Bridgeport also has the area’s only zoo. This is an excellent place to raise a family, with low crime rates and plenty of things to do.There are many young people in town since it is home to the University of Bridgeport, which is also one of the city’s main employers. There is plenty of nightlife in the area, but that does not mean the town is not popular with senior citizens. There are cultural options that include the Housatonic Museum of Art and minor league sports, such as hockey in the winter and baseball in the summer months.
