Johnson City is located in three different counties, but primarily based in Washington County. It has a population of 63,000 residents, which makes it the 8th biggest city in the state of Tennessee. It was ranked by Forbes Magazine as the 14th best small town for businesses and those seeking careers. It was also ranked by Kiplinger as the 5th least expensive city in which to live in the United States. It was the first settler of Tennessee, William Bean, who built his cabin near this area. Henry Johnson officially founded the area in 1856 and it was incorporated in 1869.
