Metairie
Metairie, Louisiana, is the largest community in Jefferson Parish and home to many famous jazz musicians. Roger Dawson, Paul Mares, Stanton Moore, and Peter Fountain are all proud to call Metairie home. It is safe to say this city is alive with music – jazz music, that is. In addition to the love of music, Metairie has some best-kept secret restaurants. Visitors come to Metairie to live the ultimate Southern party experience: Mardi Gras. Eat, drink, and be merry is what locals and visitors strive for while in Metairie.
Metairie hit international headlines in August 2005 when it was leveled by Hurricane Katrina. Thousands of people lost their homes and had to endure days of grueling conditions during this natural disaster. Since then, the community and its residents have pulled together to rebuild and make Metairie better than ever.
