Waltham
Located a short distance from Boston, Lexington, and Concord, Waltham, Massachusetts, is considered the original location of the Industrial Revolution in the United States. The Boston Manufacturing Company, opened by Francis Cabot Lowell in 1813, was the first modern factory in the U.S. The establishment of the Waltham Watch Company in 1854 added to Waltham's reputation as a center for manufacturing and industry. Today, Waltham is home to both Brandeis University and Bentley University.
