Danville
Textile industry hotspot Danville, Virginia, shares a border with North Carolina. The Dan River, which runs right through Downtown Danville, is home to many history warehouses and factories and has recently been restored into a vibrant and thriving River District. During the Civil War, many of these warehouses were used as prisons to hold Union soldiers. Toward the end of the war, Danville was used as the capital of the Confederacy. As a result of this rich lineage, the city is now home to numerous historical sites and attractions paying homage to by-gone Southern prestige.
