Smyrna

Smyrna, Georgia is nicknamed the “Jonquil City.” The city was originally small but when a railroad running through the area was finally completed in 1842, the city grew significantly. Smyrna was incorporated in 1872 and today it has a total land area of 13.9 square miles and a population of over 50,000 people. As Smyrna is located in Cobb County, students in the area attend one of the Cobb County Public Schools. It is just ten miles to the northwest of Atlanta so is the perfect spot to stay when visiting the area. In fact, Atlanta and the Chattahoochee River make up the borders of the city. The central downtown area of Smyrna, GA is known as Market Village and the city is also home to the Silver Comet Trail, a nature path. The area has an average to high median income and many area residents are employed at businesses such as IBM, Emory-Adventist Hospital and Bake One.
