Kearney

Kearney, Nebraska is a city rich with history dating back to the Civil War and the westward momentum of the developing railroad. Home to Fort Kearny, the area around modern-day Kearney has a vibrant history as a major stop along the Oregon Trail back in the 1800's. It is said that as many as 30,000 people traveled through the area on their way to California and other parts of the Western United States. Known as the “Midway City”, Kearney is located halfway between the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean. Throughout its history, Kearney has seen the highs and lows of most early U.S. towns. In more recent years, innovation and expansion have resulted in a boom of progress and growth. What began in 1873 as a small town with less than 250-residents is now a thriving city with more than 30,000, and is home to a wide variety of attractions and notable sites.
