Northbrook
Northbrook, Illinois, has a very suburban feel, being that it is so close to Chicago, but that doesn’t mean that it does not know its roots. Northbrook was founded in 1901 in honor of Frederick Schermer and was first called Shermerville. However, in 1923 the town changed its name in hopes of improving its image. After that, the name Northbrook stuck. The name was derived from the fact that the west fork of the northern branch, connecting to the Chicago River, runs through the town like a brook. When visiting Northbrook, the people are welcoming, the town is vibrant, and it is all around a great experience.
