Castle Rock
Located about 30 minutes south of downtown Denver, Castle Rock, Colorado, is named for the tower-shaped butte near the center of the town. Castle Rock has a population of about 49,000 residents, and this city is a collection of neighborhoods with some of them master planned. This is a thriving community with a historic downtown and plenty of attractions.
Many of the residents here commute to work at the Denver Technological Center. While the cost of living here is higher compared to the national average, incomes here are also higher. This is one of the most beautiful and scenic places to live in the nation with the Rocky Mountains just to the west of the city. Also just west of town, are two national forests.
There is plenty of open space and parks here. In fact, parks occupy about 27% of the land area of Castle Rock. Over 55 miles of paved and soft surface trails make this a paradise for runners, joggers, and bike riders. Residents here enjoy the warm summers, and the winters, which bring snow to the area slopes for snow skiing, snow boarding, and other winter sports.
There is some good action after dark here for the younger set, and a number of cultural attractions including a museum, an excellent public library, and numerous points of interest in town. Downtown Castle Rock also attracts tourists who are drawn to the small town charm, the eclectic shops and restaurants, and historic western heritage here.
