A relatively new town of over 14,000 that was incorporated in 1965, California City, California, is a master planned community, and much of the population is made up of those who work at nearby Edwards Air Force Base.
California City is home to a PGA golf course, a municipal airport, and a landowner's resort. People in this town love the warm weather that lasts all year long and the fact that it is so close to some of best things to do in the state. Those who do not work at the air force base are likely to have jobs at the Corrections Corporation of America, which operates a prison on the east side of the town that houses over 2,000 inmates.
This is a town with very low crime rates, a fair place to raise a family, and a fun place for singles as the city maintains two parks, a community center, a senior center, tennis courts, a pool, and a sports center. Outside of that, this is a rather desolate area that is just now catching up in development, so better days are probably ahead for this master plan community.
