Ballentine is a small, unincorporated community located inside of Richland County in the state of South Carolina. It has recently begun the steps toward incorporation and will become the seventh community in the county to be incorporated. The town has a population around 2,500 residents. The town has enjoyed a great deal of growth in the late 20th century due to its lakefront location near Lake Murray and its proximity to the thriving city of Columbia. Highway 76 cuts directly through the community.
