Seven Devils is a small town that is nestled along the northwest border of North Carolina. It actually rests inside of two different counties. The first is Avery County and the second is Watauga County. The town is right inside of the Appalachian Mountains and has a population of 192 residents. The town was originally founded as a vacation home community in the 1970's, incorporated in 1979. Today it is home to a handful of retirees and mostly seasonal residents. The total land area spans 2.1 square miles. There are 62 households and a total of 40 families living in the town. It sits at an elevation of 3,944 feet in the mountains.
