Sanderson
Created in 1882, Sanderson, Texas is a census-designated place that serves as the county seat of Terrell County, Texas. Sanderson is a historic town that is not far removed from the days of Texas legend and lore. There is a strong, lasting influence of the pioneer days of cowboy culture, railroads, and oil that lives on in the descendants of the community’s original founders. Many of these descendants still run their family ranches and businesses. Over the years, the town has strived to stay above water, a prime example being a 1965 flood and the aftermath. Homes, businesses, and lives were destroyed, but Sanderson rebuilt itself and is still here as a welcoming place for those who want to be a part of it or are just looking to visit.
