Wasta, South Dakota, is an extremely small town with a population of around 70. It has a total of 0.19 square miles, all of it land, so you could walk from one end to the other. Although a small town, it does have its share of history. An old and famous building, Calumet Hotel, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It used to be known as Wasta Hotel and was built in 1908. The building still stands and is a point of interest for anyone driving through.
