Old Harbor, Alaska is a city on Kodiak Island, and is included in the Kodiak Island Borough. Population is 218. Most of the population of the city is still Native American. Kodiak is the borough seat and makes up the majority of the island which is off the southeastern part of mainland Alaska, in the Gulf of Alaska. There are many other smaller islands located in the area: Afognak Island, Shuyak Island, Marmot Island, Raspberry Island, Little Raspberry Island, Whale Island, Spruce Island, and Woody Island. South of the island is open water of the Pacific Ocean. This makes this area good for launching satellites. Kodiak, Alaska is located approximately 53 miles northeast of Old Harbor.
