Clermont is a town located within Indiana. Specifically it is within the Wayne and Pike townships of Marion County. This town is considered to legally be a part of Indianapolis but it does have its own government as well. Clermont is an “included town” and has been since its incorporation into Indianapolis in 1970.
Clermont is fairly small and as of 2010 the population was around 1,350 people living in 0.67 square miles of land and most of these are married couples with or without children. Despite its small size, Clermont does have a local tourist attraction: the raceway.
The only large business within the town of Clermont is Miller Pipeline Corporation which is a gas and pipeline company with locations across the country but with their headquarters nearby in Indianapolis. Another important group in the town is the Clermont Lions Club. They were founded in 1945 and work hard to give back to the community in whatever way they can. There is also a Clermont Lion's Club Park located immediately to the east of Clermont within Indianapolis.
If you want to get a feel for the history of Clermont, you could visit the small Clermont Cemetery. Here you can find several generations of local residents, giving you a good impression of the types of nationalities that have been in the town throughout its history.
