Bethune, Colorado is a tiny town located just north of Interstate 70 in Kit Carson County. Situated between the towns of Stratton and Burlington, Bethune is a largely rural town with a charming small-town feel. With just over 230 residents, Bethune maintains a lot of the culture and heritage of days gone by. Originally settled as a railroad town with enormous hunting possibilities nearby, Bethune began to expand by the late 19th Century, though the Depression took away a great deal of the residents and business that had been built. By the 1980's the town was once again rebuilding, though without many of the conveniences it once had, such as restaurants and stores. Today, the residents of Bethune rely on nearby Burlington for modern day conveniences, shopping, and dining. Fortunately, Burlington is just 11-miles east of Bethune along I-70. Also convenient along I-70 is Denver, two-hours to the northwest.
