Atlas is a small general law township which is located in Genesse County in the state of Michigan. It has a population of 7,200 residents. It was originally part of Lapeer County back in 1836, which served as one of the earliest townships in the local area to have settlers. The first settler to the township was Asa Farrar who bought the land and built a house upon it. His brother followed suit soon after. The township was removed from Lapeer County back in 1843 and moved to Genesee County where it has remained ever since. The 15 cuts through the township, and it enjoys E. Maple Ave and County Line Rd as two of its borders, with Washburn Rd and Vassar Rd as the other. The township is literally shaped like a square.
